This walk is for you if you have done some mountain walking and are prepared to carry heavy overnight kit in your rucksack. Some camping experience is useful, so you know what you’re letting yourself in for! No toilets and shower blocks here...
Walk description: The route for this walk is the same as for the Three Beinns Horseshoe walk, but camping out overnight about half way before completing the route on day 2. The exact camp spot will be dependent on the weather conditions on the day, but we will aim to stay as high as possible to have the chance to watch sunset and/or sunrise.
Supper and breakfast as well as hot drinks will be provided.
Bivvy bags are the preferred overnight shelter; alternatively bring a small mountain tent. The Arran Adventure Company at the festival hub in Brodick has 2-person tents for hire at a cost of £10 – please call them on 01770 302244 to book one of those.
BAD WEATHER ALTERNATIVE
Unfortunately, here on the west coast of Scotland we can never guarantee blue skies and sunshine! If the weather is too bad for a high camp, we’ll sleep under the stars near King’s Cave on Arran’s stunning west coast instead. The advantage of a coastal camp is that we’ll be able to have a bonfire. This alternative route starts in Blackwaterfoot and continues to Machrie on day two.
