Walk description: The first stage of this walk is up to Coire Fhionn Lochain, a lovely little lochan nestling in a spectacular bowl, a classic glacial feature. Here we have a choice: up the steep, eroded right-hand spur or a gentle route to the left heading for the saddle below Meall Bhig. Either route, once up on the top before you a whaleback ridge reminiscent of a Grampian mountain stretches out. The terrain, vegetation and location give the impression of greater altitude. The route along to Beinn Bharrain, the highest point at 721m, over Beinn Bhreac and Mullach Buidhe are relatively easy and the views east to the rest of the Arran mountains and west to Kintyre and Jura are wonderful. You might see an eagle hunting over Loch Tanna or even a ptarmigan which have frequented these hills over the years. This walk will take about 8 hours, and returns via the lochan.
